A few WIP's

Well, with the long Memorial day weekend, I found a few minutes to get some paint on a few figs.
I should have gotten a lot more done in the time given, but my Vallejo Hot Orange had other plans. It just so happens to be one of the main colors for my Tir-na-Bor faction and it decided to completely settle on me since the last time I had used it.
So, a good portion of my evening was used trying to revive the paint back to a usable state. (which never really worked anyway)
The Orange on my Mid-Nor fig was not intentional either. He had a run in with my 5 year old sometime back, Yikes!
So this is what I got started this weekend, thanks for taking a look. Hopefully all 3 of them should see completion soon.

Army painter: Grass tufts

For the longest time, I have been making my own grass tufts using the really long woodland scenics grass, and then just cutting it down to size as I saw fit. Not a bad option all in all, but it isn't a fast or clean one either.

The other day, my local shop got the Army Painter tufts in stock, so I grabbed a few packages to give them a go. I always wanted to try them, but I hate paying shipping for stuff online so I never snagged any till now.

If you have been on the fence about giving these a try, I would say go ahead and make the jump. They are very inexpensive for the amount you get and are about as quick and easy as it gets.
I went ahead and grabbed a variety, so I could put them on all sorts of figs that I already have finished.
I think I'll be grabbing the rest of the range...possibly even the ones with little flowers on them. :)

Apply with a small dab of superglue to the base, and then press the tuft into the glue spot with tweezers.

Memory Lane: Adventurers

Occasionally, I get the itch to paint figures that aren't necessarily for any game. I use them primarily to try out new techniques or color schemes before I apply them to my various armies.

After a few years of doing this I have accumulated a decent smattering of random figs, that would probably be fairly well suited for an RPG or some such thing. More than likely it wil be pathfinder, eventually.
Here is a small selection of some that I have finished and ended up liking quite a bit.
From left to right(I think) Reaper, King Denethal, Chronopia, Barbarian and a Chainmail, Eleven Rogue.

Oh how I wish that WoTC still made their Chainmail figs. I really, really liked them quite a lot.
Thanks for taking a look.

Infinity: Morat Vangaurd

Got another Morat from the starter all finished up. This guy was a WIP forever it seems. So, I'm glad to have him done and out of the way. I plan to work on the Malignos next, that way I can keep things broken up before I start on the next two basic Morat from the starter.

I had to, of course, take my obligatory group shot, as I'm loving how these guys are all coming together as a force.:)

Tir-na Bor, Forge Gaurdian

Started this guy up for a contest on a forum I visit occasionally. Unfortunately, as usually seems to be the case, I did not finish in time for the deadline.
I did however have a great time working on this guy. I have painted up a bunch of Mid-Nor dwarves but this is only my second Tir-na-Bor on the completed list, so I got to work on my favorite thing, which is tweaking the color scheme.
I have a veritable mountain of these guys waiting in boxes and blister packs, so now that the scheme is set they should start to crank out rather quickly.
Let me know what ya think.

Knight Models: 72mm Magneto

For my most recent Birthday, my wife came to me and asked if there was anything Hobby related that I would like besides gaming figures that inevitably end up sitting in my unpainted pile of shame for months or even years.
I had been eying these Superhero figs form Knight Models for quite a while but couldn't bring myself to drop the cash necessary to grab one, when there are so many Gaming figs that I still want. ;)
So, I showed her some of the ones that I had been looking at the most heavily which included Magneto, Colossus and Captain America.

A couple of weeks later I was pleasantly surprised when I got this package in the mail. To my extreme dismay, he was missing his left leg! Once we finally got a hold of the folks at CoolMiniorNot, they sent it out very quickly.

I have to admit that I am extremely intimidated by such a large, detailed fig.

Neat little tin they come packaged in
Everyting in the package(after replacement) 2 head options, though I dont know      why you would ever opt for the non-helmeted one.
Close up of the detail. Casting seems to be excellent so far. Really crisp detail and no air bubbles or flash present at all.
So there ya have it. I hope to get started on him relatively soon.
