Stay on target!

Hey folks, long time no see.
Decided I would show you what I have been conjuring up at the paint desk lately. Although ti has not been much, I must confess.

Somewhere along the line, X-Wing has caught my attention. "But X wing Minis are pre painted!" I hear some of you yell.

Well, just because something is already painted doesn't mean it shouldn't receive a better paint job, now does it?!!
No? I agree.

Of course, Rebels are the flavor I have started with. The thought of playing Imperials makes me feel all dirty....


Here are the first few ships that have seen a paint reboot for my fleet.





First to get the treatment....a Z-95

Next up is my A wing

An X wing.....which really doesnt look a whole lot different, because well, Luke needs a ship damn it!

Last and most definitely least....my Bwing. Not a fan of how he turned out but he will stay as he is.

Drago!

Here is Drago, the monstrous, red, killing machine in all his finished glory!

Super glad to finally be striking this commission off of my to do list. I'm glad I got started on him since it gave the motivation I needed to bust out my airbrush. Really didn't want to paint and highlight all that red armor with a brush.

On the Bench: Malifaux and Khador

Been making a bit of progress here and there on a few figs lately.
Once I get these first two ladies finished, I'll have made a sizable dent in my Outcasts crew. Hope to have them all finished by mid March at the latest, so I can play fully painted a an upcoming tourney.


All the pics are a touch washed out do to the direct light from my painting lamp. I'll take proper pics when they are all finished.

Next up is a Drago commission that has been sitting as black primer way too long. I'm just slingin paint as fast as I can on this one to help clear out my backlog. His armor was my first crack at using an airbrush......I like how it turned out okay, but I will be less conservative with my highlight mixing next time. It was made fairly obvious to me that big step ups in color are required to get the desired look.

More Malifaux Madness!

Well, I have a couple more Malifaux figs finally completed. I have really been enjoying all aspects of this game, from reading the fluff and painting the beautiful figures, to actually playing the game- an oddity for me for sure.

I am slowly chipping away at the Outcasts/Viktorias crew I like to run, though it is a slow process for me.
First, I have a desperate Mercenary, who was really one of the main Reasons I got into the game. He is the one from the cover of the core rulebook, and just looks freakin awesome! I decided since I loved the artwork on the book so much, that I would try and pain the figure as close as possible to match.
Black has always been a rough color for me to paint and highlight, but I am happy with how he turned out. Obviously I still have room for improvement but I'll get there.  

Next up is The Henchman of my crew, and Viktoria of ashes psychotic twin sister, Viktoria of Blood.
A buddy of mine thought it would be cool to reverse the scheme from the other sister, I decided to run with it, and am very pleased with how they look together now. Of course I had to add some red to pay homage to her bloodthirsty nature!

Now, a true shiny syndrome addiction wouldnt be complete with out jumping into multiple armies from the get go!
So I decided to jump headlong into Resurrectionists. I have always had a soft spot for the nasty and always under appreciated walking dead in my miniature games, so they seemed like the right fit.
( and who could pass on the awesomeness of the new, plastic Nicodem box?) 

And here is the Undead I have assembled thus far. Plus a few other Random Malifaux things I had sitting half completed.

The Father of Toxins: Skaard, Father Curwen

Slow start this year, but I am shaking off the funk of holidays and winter in general to finally get some paint going on.
First up this year is a Dark Age fig for the Skaard faction. Particularly the Toxic cult. 
This is Father Curwen, who just so happens to rule over all disease, sickness ans pestilence in the Dark age World.
The one I have painted is a Limited edition that you can pick up at conventions, and was a commission for a friend.
He was pretty fun to paint, so it makes me excited to get cracking on my own ( should have just painted them both at the same time).

Malifaux go!

Well folks, here we are again, with a huge, disgusting pause in my blog posts.
Life has gotten the better of me once again, it seems. With my camera being the craps for the last good long while and some crazy medical problems going on, I really lost the motivation for a spell.

Now the hobby mojo seems to be creeping back into my daily routine, and I once again feel like slinging paint!
As promised in my Gen Con wrap up post, I am ready to show you some Malifaux goodies.

I now have a few games under my belt for this system and it has really been a hoot! The card mechanic in Malifaux was a bit hard to get used to at first, and I always found myself searching for dice to roll. Now that I am starting to get the hang of it however, I am enjoying the game thoroughly.

As is typical with me and miniature games, I am finding it difficult to stay "in faction" with my purchases. All of Wyrd's beautiful new plastic kits seem to be calling my name!
I have started off with Outcasts so far, which seem to be a pretty good springboard into other factions since they are, after all, Mercenaries.

My first completed fig obviously had to be the Master in my Hired Blades crew box, Viktoria of Ashes. Really an awesome fig, albeit tiny and super fiddly.  Too many times I see these Malifaux crews painted extremely dark and dirty. So, I wanted to go somewhat opposite and make mine bright, with quite a bit of pop for the table top.

Here is a shot of my entire crew as it stands now, I have since added Ama No Zako and Killjoy for some major nastiness. Just have to get those big buggers assembled.

As you can see, I have gone with kind of a hodgepodege brick road style for the bases. I made the bricks from scratch and plan to make a tutorial on them in the near future.


Something noteworthy about these plastic kits: While these are awesome figures, they are fairly difficult to assemble. If you are unsure of your skill assembling tiny, multi-part figures, you may want to seek out the help of a more experienced modeler. I have put together military models which make the difficulty of these pale in comparison, but I would put these up there in the top tier for difficult gaming figures.

Infinity: Sogorat w/HMG

Here is the latest addition to my Morat Aggression Force army. This dude is always one of my go to troops in game so I thought he deserved a paintjob after taking to the field as a silver monstrosity one too many times.

I am very happy with how he turned out. Most of my Morats are fairly colorful, but I wanted this guy to look darker and little more ominous as is fitting for the most elite regiment in the army.


I'll have to snap a group pic of these guys after I finish the next one.
