Wrath of Kings Start and some Nasier

Way back when, I got on the Wrath of Kings kickstarter, as I'm sure a lot of you out there in the vast geekosphere did.

Well, I have recently decided I ought to start assembling, panting and playing with the monstrous horde of figs I received.

I pledged for the two faction bundle, and Got Goritsi, the vampire/ werewolves, fast and maneuverable faction.
I also got the Nasier which are the elemental mask wearing loonies. They value martial prowess above all else and hit like a Mac truck.
I decided the Nasier would be my main faction to start gaming with, and working on.

I went ahead and started a slow grow league so people in my area could learn the game at an easy pace, but also get up to full on battle size eventually to use all their goodies.
We are currently at week 3 and although the turnout hasn't been amazing, we are having a blast playing the game.

Okay, nuff said. lets see the WIP's!
I have started by trying to assembly line a 12 strong unit of the Pelegarths, and I've also gotten a good start on a rank 2 leader, Arkan Thesh.

Arkan ought be done very soon now. He is one of my favorite figs in the line. such a creepy vibe going on with him.

Here are the 12 Pelegarths. I always try to do assembly line....and then I realize...... I HATE ASSEMBLY LINE PAINTING!!

Here are a few pics from our first games. Love seeing the paint hit the table already. That's what these games are all about!

Wargames Factory Skeletons

I snagged myself some of the Wargames Factory Skeletons the other day to use as randomly generated monsters for any games we may play, and to possibly use in a Necropolis army for Warlord.

the figs on the sprue look so nice, I thought Id show you what comes in the box.

30 hard plastic figs come in the box for about $20 USD! Deals don't get much better than that.

the Box art is really awful.....but maybe they wanted it to look like an old claymation film?....
it's whats inside that counts though, right? :)

Looks like every sprue is set up the same. 6 Skeletons with a variety of weapon options and shields.
Even some broken earth if you'd like your skeletons breaking out of the ground!

Here is a closeup of the actual skulls. Most skulls on the market are just to cartooney and blocky. I wanted something with a little more realism, as I plan to make a few green stuff press molds to add some skulls into my terrain and bases once in a while.

Here are the quivers and shields. I don't plan to equip any of my skellies with bows. That has always seemed like too complex a skill for simple undead creatures. Hacking and slashing with swords and spears, yes.......pulling an arrow, nocking said arrow, drawing back and aiming to fire......seems ridiculous to me.

After all is said and done, this seems to be a great kit. lots of utility here, even if you only pick it up for bits to add to other projects. Like I said, you cant beat the fig to money spent ratio on these guys.

Maybe I can get a few of these painted and ready in time for the Halloween season!

Lord Carver, BMMD, Esq. III

Here is my Lord Carver I painted recently. He was my entry into a local paint competition, in which he took second place in small fig category. I took tons of WIP photos along the way to get feedback from my buddies as I progressed.
So, here is a photo dump from start to finish. Yup, you'll need to scroll all the way to the bottom for finished pics. :)

Beginnings of the base. I wanted something suitably epic for him to stand on after all.
So I started off with some Super Sculpey Firm, and stamped it with a rubber stamp I bought a while back. I wanted the floor he was standing on to look like it had once been a palace floor or some such thing.

The floor was set up on a few blocks of plaster rubble from said palace.

Placing Lord Carver on the base to dry fit where he would stand.

Next I needed to add some growing things to give it the look like Nature was slowly taking over what structure was left.
fortunately I live within yards of a mountain side, and can find all sort of basing and terrain goodies up there.

On one trip up the mountain I found a certain type of tall weed. I really dont have the slightest idea what it was but it had great little leaf shaped seed pods. I attached them to the trunk with some superglue. I kept the foliage pretty sparse as I didnt want to make this seem like a super healthy tree.

And the paint begins. first with just some mid town grays. and I then started glazing in some purples and teals to give it a darker cold look.

Next was some highlights to the gray and I started adding some mossy junk all over the place. Plys a mouse bone as that seemed fitting for a fig called the carver...

Onto Lord Carver himself.

Started working the metals on him. This is my favorite part ot do by far.

Here he is just about finished. Just need to attach him to the base really.

And onto the finished piece before I took him to the competition. I am pretty happy with  how he turned out. Definitely excited to paint some more pigs and possibly even get a little playable force.

Moar Malifaux!

Finally finished up another couple of figs for my Malifaux, Outcasts. I really cant get enough of these figs. Sometimes my eyes have other thoughts though, because some of these figs are especially tiny!

Here are my student of Conflict, Taelor and my first of three Ronin..

Stay on target!

Hey folks, long time no see.
Decided I would show you what I have been conjuring up at the paint desk lately. Although ti has not been much, I must confess.

Somewhere along the line, X-Wing has caught my attention. "But X wing Minis are pre painted!" I hear some of you yell.

Well, just because something is already painted doesn't mean it shouldn't receive a better paint job, now does it?!!
No? I agree.

Of course, Rebels are the flavor I have started with. The thought of playing Imperials makes me feel all dirty....

Here are the first few ships that have seen a paint reboot for my fleet.

First to get the treatment....a Z-95

Next up is my A wing

An X wing.....which really doesnt look a whole lot different, because well, Luke needs a ship damn it!

Last and most definitely least....my Bwing. Not a fan of how he turned out but he will stay as he is.
